Multiple award-winning Ghanaian actor, Majid Michel has lambasted Ghanaian media practitioners for their poor understanding of their job.
According to the influential actor, Ghanaian journalists demonstrate very little professionalism in their practice.
Speaking at the launch of 2017 Actors, Presenters, Professionals and Musicians for Christ (APPMC) on Wednesday, Majid who was visibly not happy lashed out at journalists for the level of sensationalism that has engulf the Ghanaian media landscape.
The actor who was charged beyond control at the press conference revealed that he has always had problems with Ghanaian media.
Majid in his conversation insisted that all Ghanaian journalists care about is sensational headlines that would draw traffic to their medium, rather than to project what he defines as the ‘truth’ to its readers, viewers or listeners.
“I’ve always had a problem with the media because the media don’t understand their job; they don’t understand their potential as a media, their power to hold the nation. The media is a backbone; the media is the soul of the country”, Majid lamented.
He also asserted that most journalists in Ghana do not even know the definition of media, thinking it is a singular word.
Majid Michel demonized that because the media lacks objectivity in its reportage, it is difficult for the nation to progress and until journalists get their jobs right, Ghana will witness no change.
