Marcus Rashford again showed why he is getting a lot of attention as his sensational free-kick from over 30 yards secured Manchester United a 1-0 win against Basel at the St. Jakob-Park in Switzerland.
After a goalless first half, Man United finally broke the deadlock from a direct free-kick. Henrik Mkhitaryan was awarded a free-kick in the 64th minute which Rashford stepped forward to take.
But just as many thought he was going to cross, the youngster spots Benfica goalie Svilar off his line and curls a beauty which beats the keeper who although caught the ball, but was well behind the goal line.
Both teams pressed forward to score but it ended 1-0 in favor of Jose Mourinho's men. There was also time for a late drama as Benfica's Luisao was sent off for his second booking for a rough tackle on Scott McTominay.
In the other game in Group A, Basel secured a vital away win in Moscow, as they defeated CSKA Moscow 2-0 away from home.
Taulant Xhaka and Dimitri Oberlin were on the score sheet as the Swiss side beat their opponent.
