Zimbabwean first lady, Grace Mugabe is allegedly suing a Lebanese businessman for $1,2 million over a diamond ring deal that went sour last year.
According to reports, Mugabe approached Mr Ahmed in April last year, and ordered a 100-carat ring worth approximately $1,350,000 for her wedding anniversary.
Yen.com.gh learned that she had allegedly paid for the ring in advance through her CBZ Bank account.
However, in what she called a breach of the agreement, Mr Ahmed failed to deliver the ring, resulting in a nasty legal wrangle. Then, according to more reports, Mr Ahmed agreed to refund the first lady of Zimbabwean, but only paid her $120,000, far short of the original $1,350,000.
Now, Mugabe is planning to sue the businessman, claiming the principal debt plus interest calculated from April 1, 2015 to the date of payment in full.
She also seeks an order allowing her to attach the businessman's immovable properties in Avondale and Vainona, Harare, if he fails to settle the debt.
However, Mr Ahmed, became evasive and could not be located for some time after receiving payment, and is expected to have fled Zimbabwe.
