- Konadu Ralings has been accused of scheming against John Mahama ahead of 2020 elections
- A pro-NDC group claims Konadu Rawlings does not want Mahama contesting the elections
It has emerged that former first lady and founder of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Konadu Rawlings is secretly plotting against the return of ex-president Mahama into the presidential race ahead of the 2020 elections.
A pro-NDC group by name the Concerned Binduri Youth claims the former first lady is using her pressure group -31 December Women’s Movement lobby against the former president.
A statement by the pro-NDC group is thus calling on John DramanI Mahama to either act fast to revert the plans of the former first lady or risk killing his presidential ambitions.
“Nana Konadu has instructed some 31st December Women’s Movement executive to mobilize and stage an uprising against John Mahama’s come back.An internal contest among NDC family members must be devoid of other party meddling,” a statement signed by the convener of the group - Dauda Assibid claimed.
This press statement by the pro-NDC group follows previous wranglings between Konadu Rawlings and some members of the NDC - a development which saw her break away from the party to form her own party in the lead up to the 2012 general elections.
YEN.com.gh has reported on how possibly John Dramani Mahama could be contesting the 2020 general elections. Sources close to the circle of the former president reveal that John Mahama is currently embarking on a close-door campaign to woo the interest of party supporters and members.
Meanwhile, the office of the former first lady is yet to respond to these claims as she continue to maintain that there is no way she could decide on returning to the party.
