Two radio stations operated by the Despite Group, Accra-based Okay FM and Kumasi-based Hello FM, have been taken off by the National Communications Authority (NCA).
The shutdown follows their failure to pay hefty fines imposed on them by the NCA for their refusal to make payments for license fees.
By refusing to pay their license fees, they had been deemed by the Authority to be operating illegally had and been given a 30-day period to settle their indebtedness but th grace period has elapsed without them paying.
Okay FM and Hello FM are among the most notable of the 131 radio stations that were sanctioned by the NCA.
Other notable stations include Accra-based Radio Gold and Atlantis who have been fined over GHc 60 million each.
