A severe rainstorm in the Wenchi municipality of the Brong-Ahafo Region has destroyed about 42 houses; an estimated 200 persons have been left homeless.

The houses are located in the Boadan, Kokuroko and Kajetia electoral areas.

YEN understands that a woman, who is heavy with a child, has been admitted at the Methodist Hospital in Wenchi receiving treatment, as she was hit by a flying roof.

The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has toured the affected areas in a bid to assess the damage done, so that remedial measures could be implemented.

An official statement indicated that a formal report has been forwarded to the head office, so that immediate assistance could be facilitated for the affected persons.

In that respect, a plea has been extended to benevolent individuals and organizations to come in to assist.
