A match-fixing scandal is gradually popping up in the camp of Premier League giants, Accra Hearts of Oak after some fans accused a member of the club's staff of derailing their chance of winning this year's title.
The staff member, Joshua Acquah, who is said to be a protocol officer is beign accussed of working for some betting companies by using his position to influence the outcome of matches to suit the companies.
According to Aziz Haruna Futtah, a leading Hearts supporter who first made the allegations, Mr Acquah, as a protocol, was responsible for receiving match officials and ensuring their accommodation.
He thus used his proximity to manipulate results to suit the betting companies who pay him for it.
This, he claimed , was the reason for the club's inconsistent performances in the league.
After his allegations, Mr. Acquah was reportedly arrested and questioned by the Nima Police last Thursday over the betting scandal.
He is said to have tendered in his resignation after being released by the Police.
