Nana Addo commissions new cadet officers into Armed Forces

President of the republic, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, has commissioned the first batch of Officer Cadets from the Military Academy and Training Schools in Accra.

Nana Addo has thus charged all officer cadets to make it a point to uphold the tenets of the Ghana Armed Forces which, according to him has been very professional in their line of duty.

Speaking at the official commissioning ceremony,Nana Addo bemoaned the high level of sophisticated crime in the country calling on all officers to ensure that the fight against crime in the country is intensified.

He stated that the traditional challenges to security on the continent, such as chieftaincy conflicts, armed robberies, land disputes, religious intolerance, ethnic conflicts and political rivalry, are being compounded by contemporary threats like drug and human trafficking, proliferation of small arms and light weapons, cyber-crime and activities of nomadic herdsmen.

The statements by the president follows concerns over how prepared Ghana’s security is against terrorist attacks.

So far, there has not been any attack on Ghana as rumours of the Accra Mall attack got fiercely debunked by security officials.

But government through the Mahama administration has constituted the anti-terrorist task force which has been stationed across various flash points of the country should there be a high risk of an attack.

Just recently, a ranking member of parliament, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa revealed how a chunk of Ghanaians are currently joining terrorist groups across the world the most enrollment being in Libya were the government is also claimed to have released a list of countries whose citizens are front line recruits of the Islamist group, ISIS.
