-Ghana has been bundled out of the 2017 FIFA Under-17 World Cup after a 2-1 defeat to Mali
Ghana's junior national team, the Black Starlets have been eliminated from the 2017 FIFA Under-17 World Cup in India after a 2-1 quarter-final defeat to West African counterparts, the Eaglets of Mali.
Playing under very unfavourable conditions at the Indira Ghandi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati as it rained all through the game, the Black Starlets failed to glitter for the better part of game.
Mali who looked well-prepared dominated the early part of the match and took the lead through a 15th minute strike from Hadji Drame.
Ghana only showed signs of their quality after 30 minutes and put the ball in the back of Mali's net in the 40th minute through Ibrahim Sulley but it was disallowed by Algerian referee Mehdi Abid Charef for a foul on Inrahim Kane by Kudus Mohammed and the Malians held on to end the first half 1-0.
Coming back strongly for the second, the Black Starlets created some opportunities but just when they looked like equalising, Mali scored an unexpected second goal right on the hour mark after a calamitous error by Ghana keeper, Ibrahim Danlad.
He came out of his goal area in attempt to clear a lose ball but he missed leaving Mali's Djemoussa Traore to curl a shot at goal which Danlad who had raced back to his post parried into his own net.
Ghana rallied and got a penalty after Mohammed Ibrahim was fouled in the Mali.It was converted by Kudus Mohammed to make the score 2-1.
But try as the Starlets did they could not find the equaliser to take the game into penalties as Danlad's error undid them and eventually denied them the opportunity to interact with the cast of Kumkum Bhagya series as they had wished.
