- Security officials are currently at the scene to assist with emergencies
A train has derailed on the Accra-Nsawam rail route at Tesano in Accra resulting in the injury of some passengers.
The cause of the accident is yet to be figured out as eyewitnesses claim it could be a technical fault of better still the poor nature of the rail route there.
So far, no casualties have been recorded but unconfirmed media reports claim that over ten casualties have been witnessed with several of the accident victim being admitted at the nearest hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, the accident scene is reported to have been stormed by some police recruits who are currently helping with all victims after embarking on their regular training exercise.
Tesano has also a similar fate in 2015 after an Accra-Nsawam train disentangled from the remaining coaches after it derailed.
The Accra-Nsawam shuttle serves thousands of commuters to and from the capital on a daily basis, making at least four trips, but is largely considered a death trap due to the obsolete nature of these rail lines.
Meanwhile, the minister for railways development and former attorney general, Joe Ghartey has revealed of fast approaching plans to restructure all rail lines in the country.
