Speaking in an interview on GH One TV’s program, State of Affairs, the 31-year old boxer revealed that he was motivated to ‘beat’ Bukom Banku to appease both his fans and the women Bukom Banku was alleged to have beaten.

The undefeated boxer revealed that his fans were itching to have him end the unbeaten run of Bukom Banku who was parading himself with the “African Mayweather” accolade.

Samir Bastie, known for his few words and always seen beaming with smiles indicated to remain resolute and exhibited his skills in the ring.

The former captain of the Ghana Olympics boxing team known as The Black Bombers revealed that he was also motivated to defeat Bukom Banku as a way of avenging the numerous women he (Bukom Banku) was purported to have beaten in his lifetime.

Prior to the fight, Bukom Banku had ‘loudmouthed’ Samir Bastie and called him names. At one of their media meetings before the bout, Bukom Banku taunted Bastie at the least opportunity.

Bukom Banku alleged that Bastie was addicted to hard drugs therefore his stamina had been affected. He added tha Bastie was not strong enough to compete with him in the ring.

These allegations infuriated Bastie’s supporters who spurred him on to defeat Bukom Banku in the ring during the “Make or Break” bout.

There had also been allegations that Bukom Banku had ‘laid his hands’ on some women and Samir Bastie was motivated to ‘discipline’ the alleged ‘woman beater’ in a fight of real men.

Bukom Banku suffered his very first career defeat to Samir Bastie in a highly-anticipated bout which came off at the plush Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra, Saturday. The defeat came by way of a Technical Knock Out in Round 7.
