Residents of Obeyeyie, a suburb of Gbestsile in the Kpone Katamanso District, have accused the police stationed in the area of closing working with land guards.
Information available to YEN indicates that a man, called Ahmed, is the leader of the land guards.
The residents alleged that some soldiers also provide help to the land guards, when they are engaging in their activities.
They further claimed that various reports made to the police for help have yielded no results.
In some cases, they added, they are rather arrested and placed in cells.
They added that “we have police medical forms and hospital reports as well as pictures of some of the atrocities suffered in the hands of these land guards, which have received no attention from the Gbetsile police.”
They have therefore called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to intervene in the matter, before issues get out of hand.
They stated that they have lost hope in the police, and as such would address the matter in their own way if the right thing isn’t done.
