A US woman who was born a boy has spent over $1million (Ghc4,2m) on plastic surgery to look like a barbie doll.

Nikki Exotika transitioned to being a woman when she turned 18 after years of hiding her gender preference.

In an interview, she said she knew from the age of two that she was not in the right body. She said: "I would always cover myself when my mother changed my diaper, I never felt right with male genitalia."

She added that her quest to become a Barbie stems from an obsession with the doll from a young age. She underwent her first plastic surgery after turning 18.

She has now had over 30 procedures on almost every inch of her body, including her nose and Adam's apple.
