It seems the public opinion of how female musicians portray their brand keeps getting more and more divided, as different trains of thought give their two cents on the matter.
Dancehall artistes such as Ebony, have faced backlash from the public about their choice of outfits for their performances at various events.
The new musician to bear the brunt of stern criticisms by some public figures about her brand, is dancehall diva, Kaakie, who was spotted this week promoting a weave line for Shasha wigs, wearing only leggings and a bikini top.
Blogger Zionfelix posted the photo on their Instagram page which drew attention from their followers and the Deputy CEO for the Ghana Tourism Development Company, Nana Akua Manfo, better known as Blakofe.
Upon seeing the photo of Kaakie’s outfit, the TV host enquired whether the singer was opening a fashion, to which she was replied in the negative.
This prompted the media personality to express disappointment in the conduct of singers and actresses these days, who according to her are rather promoting their bodies instead of their work.
She wrote: “So these days instead of our female singers doing music and actresses acting they’re promoting their bodies? Gosh…when we started in the industry, guess what? We worked with our clothes on. #SoNotImpressed by these young ones these days. #UseYourTalentNotYourBody.”
Kaakie however did not respond to Blakofe’s comments.
