- Mesut Ozil has compared Alexandre Lacazette to his former teammate Karim Benzema
- He said he wants Lacazette to score as many goals as Benzema
- Both Lacazette and Benzema plays for French national team
Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has explained why fellow Arsenal team-mate Alexandre Lacazette can be as good as his former Real Madrid pal Karim Benzema.
Lacazette, 26, joined the Gunners in the summer for £52.7m after scoring 37 goals in 45 appearances for Lyon the season before.
So far the Frenchman has netted five times in nine Premier League games for Arsenal - his most recent goal coming against Everton.
Lacazette has failed to bring his form to the international team, however, scoring just once in 14 caps.
But when asked by French outlet SFR Sport if the 26-year-old can be the new Benzema, Ozil replied: "I think Lacazette’s game is different."But I hope he will have as much success as Benzema. ‘He has his head on his shoulders, he works hard.
"I wish him to score as many goals as Benzema with the French national team."
