A woman in California, US has sued a multinational cosmetics company after claiming she got an STD from using a lipstick sample at one of its stores.
The unnamed woman claims the Sephora store she visited in 2015 did not warn her of the risks of using lipstick samples. She wishes to remain anonymous.
According to entertainment website TMZ, the woman claims she ended up with herpes on her lips. The STD is incurable.
She says that doctors diagnosed her with the STD soon after her visit and that she didn't have it before.
The woman adds that other cosmetics stores offer individualized samples for hygiene purposes.
She is seeking an unspecified amount from Sephora as compensation for "emotional distress" caused by contracting a "lifelong incurable condition."
Sephora has reportedly not yet commented on the lawsuit.
