- Jamie Foxx has just been cast in a movie that shows Johnnie Cochran’s rise to fame
- He has featured in award-winning movies
After appearing in ‘Baby Driver’ and wrapping up ‘Robin Hood: Origins’, Jamie Foxx is set to star in a movie that is bound to be epic.
Foxx was recently cast as Black Panther leader Elmer ‘Geronimo’ Pratt in the movie ‘Signal Hill’.
‘Signal Hill’ is a Johnnie Cochran biopic that will be centered on the 1981 wrongful death case of college football star Ron Settles that took place in Signal Hill, California.
Signal Hill police ruled that Settles hanged himself in a city jail in despair over his speeding arrest, but his lawyer Johnnie Cochran suspected foul play and convinced the footballer’s family to place a request for Ron’s body to be exhumed so that an autopsy can be performed.
The autopsy showed that Settles had been choked to death.
Cochran represented Pratt, who was wrongfully convicted for the murder and sentenced to 27 years.
The role of Cochran will be played by Anthony Mackie.
Other notable names set to appear in the film include Elizabeth Banks, who is known for her roles in ‘Walk of Shame’, ’What To Expect When You’re Expecting’, and ‘The Hunger Games’.
She will play newspaper reported Mary Neiswender, who investigated the Signal Hill case for the Long Beach Press-Telegram.
The movie has already created some buzz due to director Taylor Hackford and Foxx teaming up once more.
The two previously worked together on the 2004 Ray Charles biopic, ‘Ray’.
The movie won Foxx an Oscar for Best Actor while Hackford received Oscar nods for Best Picture and Best Director.
It seems that this has been a good year for Foxx since he publicly came out about his relationship with Tom Cruise’s ex-wife, Katie Holmes.
