Mrs. Samira Bawumia, Second Lady of the Republic and wife to Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, has added her voice to the global breast cancer awareness month aimed at galvanizing awareness against breast cancer.
Globally, breast cancer is the most common form of cancer diagnosed among women. According to the World Cancer Research Fund International, almost 1.7 million women worldwide were diagnosed with this form of cancer in the year 2012.
Just like all other form of cancer, the likely hood of surviving cancer - more often than not - increases by detecting the disease while it is still at an early stage, thus the need for periodic awareness campaigns to make sure that members of the public are urged to undergo period checks, whether at home or with a doctor.
