Former Black Stars player, Yakubu Abubakar has died at age 36 at the Tema Government Hospital in Accra.
The unfortunate incident happened Tuesday afternoon after the player who was on oxygen support gave up the ghost, according to Pulse.com.gh.
Abubakar a former Ajax and Vitesse player played a key role in helping Ghana qualify for their first FIFA World Cup in 2006 but failed to make the list for the finals in Germany.
He played for Ajax from 1999 to 2005 and Vitesse from 2005 to 2009. He also had 16 caps for Ghana as a Black Stars player.
