- Lionel Messi is unhappy Barcelona have abandoned their tiki-taka style of football
- Barcelona played worried the club have become defensive under Ernesto Valverde
- The club have secured nine wins in their opening 10 matches in La Liga this season
Barcelona players are worried with the way the team is playing despite sitting at the top of the La Liga standings with nine wins in their opening 10 matches.
The Catalan giants are the divisions top scorers with 28 goals, have conceded just three times, and are four points clear of second place Valencia - with champions Real Madrid four points further back.
However, questions are being asked about the style of their play under new head coach Ernesto Valverde with some players thinking the club is now too defensive.
Lionel Messi has largely carried the team with 12 goals in 10 league games with Luis Suarez misfiring and Ousmane Dembele injured.
According to Diario Gol, Messi and other teammates have have taken their concern to Valverde while staff members have declared their worries in private.
This comes five weeks after a reported face off between Valverde and Messi, where the coach thrashed out his plans for the coming season - including Messi reverting to a more central role and the Argentine's want for Paulinho to start more than Andre Gomes.
That has since largely come to fruition- although Gomes started in Bilbao - and has in turn led to Messi being blamed by some for Suarez's struggles.
