A 10-year-old boy in Kiambu county, Kenya has resorted to the backbreaking labour of burning charcoal to help feed a family of six.
This is after his mother separated with the standard five boy's father some years back leaving the dejected family to fend for itself.
The family in Nachu, Kikuyu constituency crams inside a one-roomed, tin-roofed shack with no door in a tiny piece of land where they call home.
Photos shared on social media on Wednesday, November 1 showed a hungry, poverty stricken family with no hope even for the day's meal.
The family sometimes goes without food for days since the mum is unemployed and they have begged for help long enough from their neighbors who can no longer put up with their beggary lifestyle.
But the young boy has decided to man up after his dad officially disowned the family and walked out of their lives never to be seen again.
Some claim the husband officially signed a document at the local chief's office washing his hands off the family and took off to a place unknown.
But despite the brutish lifestyle fate has handed the family, the boy's dream is to become Governor for Kiambu in the near future.Such resilience.
Kenyans of good have formed a WhatsApp group with plans to raise funds to pull the family out of the hell hole they are living in.
