- The US president wants the American Visa Program canceled
- Donald Trump believes the program has opened doors to terrorism
For the thousands of Ghanaians who wish to start a new life in America, now is the time start looking elsewhere as the US president has revealed plans to cancel the Diversity American Visa Lottery Program.
This move by President Trump follows the New York City terror attack which has been said to be perpetrated by a terrorist and benefactor of the Diversity Visa program.
"I am today starting the process of terminating the diversity lottery program,” Trump said in a fierce statement after the announcement by Homeland Security
According to Donald Trump, the visa lottery program sounds nice but "it is not nice, it is not good. It hasn’t been good and we have been against it.”
What this means is that the millions of Ghanaians who depend on the Diversity Visa Lottery Program will now have their hopes of traveling to the US dashed.
YEN.com.gh gathers that the 2017/2018 Diversity Visa lottery saw close to a million Ghanaians apply.
Out of these applications, 50,000 of all 150,000 selected applicants will be granted visas to permanently live in one of the world’s most advanced countries – America.
The scramble for US visas, especially in Ghana, raises the issue of how poised most citizens are to not just changing their geographical location but also improving their economic lives.
