Founder of the Glorious Word Power Ministry International (GWPMI), Reverend Owusu Bempah has gone back on his comments which sought to claim that Jesus Christ is not the Son of God.
In a previous interview with Kofi TV, the controversial pastor suggested that the name ‘Jesus Christ’ is not in reference to the Son of God, but rather to a different person all together.
He further explained that the real name of God’s son is Yeshua Hamashiach, adding that “the name Jesus Christ was given by Constantine”.
Asked to then explain how the term ‘Christians’ came about, Rev. Bempah said “there was this man who came called Nero who was killing the followers of Jesus Christians who were not even called Christians but Nazarenes”.
His comments have since stirred controversy among Ghanaians after it made its way into the media.
However, the pastor has now come out to take back his words, claiming he was misquoted by the media.
Clarifying his point in an interview with Adom FM, Rev. Bempah said all he sought to do was to make known Jesus’ other name, which is Yesua.
“I have been misquoted by the media. I did not say Jesus Christ is not the son of God. I was only referring to the fact that Jesus’ name was also known as Yesua,” he explained.
