Damian Robert Marley who is also known as Jr Gong is a 39-year-old Jamaican reggae artist.
He is the youngest son of the reggae legend Bob Marley.
Although he had such a popular and famous father, Damian has managed to make a name for himself in the world through his music.
Apparently, he inherited his father's gift of music and even more, his father's love for marijuana.
He is the only Jamaican reggae artist in history to win two Grammy Awards on the same night and also the only reggae artist to win in the Best Urban/Alternative Performance category at the Grammy Awards.
Jr Gong created more waves for himself when he made public his plans to start a commercial cannabis farm.
He has decided to make a business of what he and other Rastafarians call 'The Holy Herb' so as to help the community and supply medical dispensaries.
The famous singer declared his wish to take the Claremont Custody Center, a prison in Coalinga, CA and convert the former 77,000 square foot prison into a cannabis grow space.
Damian explained the reason for his plans
'Many people sacrificed so much for the herb over the years who got locked up, says Marley. If this venture helps people and it’s used for medicinal purposes and inspires people, it’s a success'
Though some people have issues with Damian's plans there's no denying that it will really help his community.
The city of Coalinga has already benefited from Marley and his partners purchasing the prison as the business venture will generate jobs for the community and the purchase of 4.1 million has eliminated a 3.3 million debt.
In his excitement about the pot farm, Damian, and his brother, Stephen went to the studio and came out with a single titled 'Medication' in which they praised the medicinal use of cannabis.
In the video, both Jr. Gong and Stephen are seen turning a prison into an actual weed farm.
Damian has obviously taken his father's cannabis legacy to another level.
