From the African Mermaid to Ghana Jollof, Ghanaian musician Deborah Vanessa, is making waves in the music industry with her unique, hilarious style.
Born Deborah Owusu-Bonsu, the stunning Ghanaian-Romanian singer started out as a model in TV commercials before releasing her first single, Uncle Obama.
The song’s hilarious under-notes was an instant hit and launched ‘Sister Derby’s’ music career.
The singer and her brother, the very eccentric Afro-pop artiste, Wanlov the Kubolor are known to push the boundaries with their musical style.
With a vibrant following, and more and more different yet inspired music on the way, it is easy to see why the singer is fast becoming one of Ghana’s favorite stars.
YEN.com.gh came across this adorable throwback photo of the singer which was shared via her Instagram page.
The photo which is presumably taken in the 90s, showed a young Sister Derby cooling off with Ghana’s favorite iced snack, Fanyogo.
Deborah Vanessa has shown impressive talent as a model and has walked the runway for several noted fashion houses and designers including: GTP, Mina Evans, Baruch and Charlene Amankwah.
She is currently dating hiplife artiste Medikal, and the couple is rumored to be gearing up to sound their wedding bells.
