- President Akufo-Addo is accusing Mahama and NDC of depleting the entire coffers of the state
- Nana Addo says NDC government left only weak economy saddled with public debts
The President of the Republic, Nana Akufo-Addo has disclosed that his predecessor, John Dramani Mahama did not leave behind any resources to empower his administration take off smoothly.
According to Nana Addo, the erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC), administration only depleted the country’s coffers with and left a weakened economy saddled with huge public debts.
President Nana Addo addressing party sympathizers in his Greater Accra tour disclosed that former John Agyekum Kufour left the country with a lot more resources which empowered Atta Mills to embark on many developmental projects upon taking office, but same cannot be said of John Mahama.
“Atta Mills was lucky because he inherited power from Kufuor who left enough resources. In my case, I didn’t meet any money, the government coffers was completely empty, no single dime was left," Nana Addo lamented.
Nana Addo added that despite the huge challenges and public debts left behind by President Mahama, he is determined to return the country on sound footings.
“So I’m picking up, trying to gather resources with which we can little by little develop the nation and grow the economy,” the president said.
This is not the first time the President is making such claims, as far back as his first state of the nation address, he lamented about the poor state of the country’s economy left behind by the Mahama administration.
