It is well known that some women prefer big rocks in their engagement rings.
However, this Chinese man has taken it to a whole new level after proposing to his girlfriend with a 33-tonne meteorite rock instead of a diamond ring.
The man, identified only as Liu, made the eye-catching proposal recently in Urumqi, Xinjiang province, China, and his girlfriend said yes.
According to local reports, Liu took his unidentified girlfriend on holiday in the past year during which they came across the meteorite. He reportedly asked if if she liked it and she said she did.
Liu later contacted the owner of the meteorite in order to buy it. He eventually bought it for a reported price of one million Yuan (Ghc628k).
Liu's girlfriend told reporters that she was very happy with the gesture and said: "This way was very romantic. I have never seen such a large stone in my life." The couple said they had been together for four years.
