-APC founder, Hassan Ayariga has harshly criticised President Akufo-Addo for hosting Shatta Wale at the Flagstaff House.
-Mr Ayariga believes that the gesture shows the president was serious about business and was only using his tenure as a pension package
Founder and leader of the All People's Congress (APC), Hassan Ayariga has lambasted President Nana Akufo-Addo for reducing his tenure to a retirement package instead of getting down to do serious work.
According to him, at 73, President Akufo-Addo had nothing to lose and was exhibiting it through the merry mood he has been exhibiting.
"Our President is 73 years old…and the Presidency is a retirement package which he is enjoying. If you watch the President he is always laughing and smiling. He has nothing to lose,” he explained.
Mr Ayariga's criticism is in reaction to the recent meeting between President Akufo-Addo and Shatta Wale at the Flagstaff House as part of a birthday present to the musician.
He believes the invitation is "unnecessary" and shows that President Akufo-Addo is not focusing on his core mandate but rather turning himself into a "birthday reporter".
“If the President was serious…I would have expected the President to invite leaders of the country…to come and sit with him and ask them 10 months into my government what has gone wrong? How can we help build Ghana rather than being a birthday reporter,” Mr Ayariga stated in an interview with Joy News.
