- Telecom operators, Tigo and Airtel have merged as one entity
- The name for the new entity is AirtelTigo
Subscribers of Airtel and Tigo networks will from now on becoming under the umbrella of one major telecom.
This follows the merger of Tigo and Airtel into one telecom entity. What this means is that both telecom entities are now under the name "AirtelTigo".
AirtelTigo will now control 22 percent market share of the telecom industry in Ghana after the National Communications Authority recently approved the merger.
Speaking about what this merger means to subscribers, CEO of AirtelTigo, Roshi Motman said the new merger will use technology to improve the network as it provides quality service to its customers.
“As you can see, we now Bigger, Better and Stronger with 22 percent Market share. It means that will play an important part in the industry and serve our customers with quality and better service,” She revealed in an interview with the press.
The successful closing will see both companies hold equal ownership and governance rights in the combined entity. The new entity after the merger is set to assume the second largest telecom company slot.
