Goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon apparently retired from international football after the game. Buffon, who won the World Cup with Italy in 2006, made his national team debut two decades ago.

Sweden reaches its first World Cup since 2006. It was denied two penalties for apparent handballs, first from Matteo Darmian and then from Andrea Barzagli.
