The much talked about Special Prosecutor Bill is now an Act of Parliament.
This follows Tuesday's passing of the bill after months of going through the various stages of the House.
The Special Prosecutor’s office which the Act will set up, was one of the key promises made by President Nana Akufo-Addo during 2016 electioneering campaign.
Per the Act, an independent prosecutor will head the office and prosecute corruption offenses by state officers.
According to President, the independent prosecuter was necessary in order to take away any partisan linkages to government's fight against corruption among political appointees.
The bill which was first introduced to the House in July through a certificate of urgency was rejected by the Constitutional, Legal Parliamentary Affairs Committee.
The committee had argued at the time that the bill did not fall within the category of Bills brought before the House under a certificate of urgency.
