-Minister of Education, of Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh has harshly criticised his predecessor, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang
-He believes she failed at her job and was an "embarrassment" and a "disgrace" as a minister.
The Minister of Education, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, has launched tirades at his predecessor, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang for what he deems as her poor performance as a minister.
According to him, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang was an “embarrassment” and a “disgrace” of a minister who failed at her job.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, a former Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) served as the Minister of Education for the entire duration of former President John Mahama's government.
But her successor who is also the MP for Manhyia South believes “her four-year tenure under John Mahama was an embarrassment" because "she doesn’t understand education”.
Giving reasons for his harsh opinion about the former Education Minister, Dr Opoku Prempeh, otherwise known as Napo, cited the debt burden Prof. Opoku-Agyemang left the education sector as a clear sign of her incompetence.

Notable among the debts which, according to him, were captured in the handing over notes of the Mahama administration are:
Feeding Grants for Colleges of Education – GHS36 million;
Feeding Grants for Special Schools – GHS4.7 million;
SHS Subsidy – GHS24 million;
Progressively Free Senior High School debt – GHS33 million;
Capitation Grant, GHS8 million; GETFund debt – GHS3.7 billion
Dr Opoku Prempeh who was reacting to criticisms from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) on the Free SHS programme on Asempa FM's Ekosii Sen on Tuesday also described Prof. Opoku Agyemang's deputy, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa as a peddler of falsehood
In his estimation, the free senior high school programme of the Akufo-Addo government has been 90% successful, hence the opposition's criticisms were needless.
