- President Akufo Addo says he is very excited to be referred to as President of Ghana.
- According to him, the victory never came easy for him.
- He assured Ghanaians of fulfilling his promises.
President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says his journey to becoming a president was really a tough one.
The president was addressing some traditional rulers from the Brong Ahafo Region when they paid a courtesy call on him at the Flagstaff House on Tuesday.
The delegation was led by Pimampim Yaw Kagbresse V, the President of the Brong Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs.
They were there to officially congratulate the President on winning the 2016 election.
Another purpose of the visit was to charge the President to fulfil his promises made to Ghanaians.
Nana Addo mentioned how traumatic it was for him to travel the length and breadth of Ghana in order to attain the high position of president.
Recalling how he attempted the presidency and winning in the third attempt, Akufo Addo indicated that he would be deceiving Ghanaians if he should say he is not happy being the president.
“With the long and tortuous journeys across Ghana, I am excited to win the presidency because it was not an easy road for me to go,” he told the traditional rulers.
“I suffered to gain this victory therefore if I say I wasn’t happy to be declared the president, then I am a big liar,” he added.
President Akufo-Addo stated that he owes all gratitude to God for making his victory possible.
Further, he thanked Ghanaians for the confidence reposed in him to lead the nation; assuring them of fulfilling the promises he has made.
