Policeman arrested for stealing cell phone

- A Lance Corporal of the Ghana Police Service has been arrested for stealing money and a mobile phone

- He initially attempted flee after being found out but the shopkeeper chased, and caught him

- He escaped a second time while being taken to the police station but was later arrested and sent back to Bole

A junior police officer attached to the Ghana Police Service's Rapid Deployment Force (RDF) has been arrested in Bole, Northern Region for stealing a cellular phone along with GHC900.

According to a report by Mynewsgh.com, Lance Corporal Abu Majida, service no. 47607, Who's attached to the Ghana Police Service's RDF unit in Wa, Upper East Region, was arrested for allegedly stealing a "Chinese" mobile phone.

Police Investigators say that the Lance Corporal Abu Majida visited his hometown of Bole while he was on leave, and took a lift home on a friend, Majeed Abdulai's motorbike.

During the ride home, the Lance Corporal stopped at a local provision shop owned by one Mohammed Mahama. The report has it that while the shopkeeper was attending to other customers, Lance Corporal Abu Majida allegedly stole the shopkeeper's Solo King, along with GHC900.

Upon being seen stealing the money and phone, the disgraced police officer attempted to make away with his stolen loot, but was chased and apprehended by the shopkeeper, who retrieved the money and cell phone.

Lance Corporal Abu Majida then escaped from his captors while he was being taken to the nearest police station, and subsequently fled the town.

Unfortunately for the disgraced police officer, a complaint was lodged with police and communicate to officers in Wa, Upper East Region, who eventually arrested him and returned him to authorities in Bole who have charged him with Unlawful Entry and Theft.

Lance Corporal Adu Majida was presented before a Magistrate Court in Bole on November 14th, 2017, although his plea was not heard.
