-Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has described PPP founder and three-time presidential candidate, Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom as not fit for the presidency
- The lawyer believes Dr Nduom will serve better as minister
Controversial Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has poured cold water on the presidential ambition of Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom saying he is not a presidential material.
According to him, Dr Nduom would be much useful as a minister rather a president.
Dr Nduom, founder of the Progressive People's Party (PPP) has contested the presidency on three occasions, once for the Convention People's Party (CPP) in 2008 and the PPP in 2012 and 2016.
But on all occasions, he failed to garner two percent of the total valid votes cast.
Speaking in an interview with Kumasi-based Abusua FM, Lawyer Ampaw was of the opinion Dr Nduom's poor performances were due to the fact that he lacked the qualities of a president and was better off a businessman than a politician.
‘We need to pray for God to deliver Ghanaians from hardships in 2024, PPP’s founder Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom is not a presidential material, he has been contesting for two consecutive times, but he didn’t make any inroads.
He is good at being a minister and managing businesses. No one can take his business skills from him. To be at the presidency is by birth, everybody has his or her God given talent', he said.
He mentioned former Presidents Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, J.J Rawlings, J.A Kufuor, and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo adding that former President John Dramani Mahama was only lucky to have climbed the presidency after the late J.E A Mills died'.
Lawyer Ampaw reaffirmed his intention to contest for the presidency in 2024 as an independent candidate.
‘An anointed person is being prepared by God to lead the country in 2024, and it will take everybody by surprise. Not anybody can be in the helm of affairs of the country,’ he stated.
