Former first lady, Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, has shared some memories of how the relationship with her husband started.
Konadu Rawlings says the love she has for her husband was never the case when she was a young woman.
In an interview as part of the Forbes Woman Africa series: Against All Odds on Thursday, the former first lady revealed that she never fell in love with Jerry Rawlings the first time they met.
The former first family met as young students of the Achimota School and according to Mrs. Konadu, it took a while for them to develop the love and close bond they have now shared for over 40 years of marriage.
"With Jerry Rawlings, the former president of Ghana and I, it was not loved at first sight. He grew on me I cannot say I knew I was gonna be the first lady, I just landed the position," she stated.
Nana Konadu got married to her sweetheart, Jerry John Rawlings, an Airforce Officer, in 1977. She gave birth to her first child Ezenator Rawlings in 1978. Two other daughters and a son followed later; Yaa Asantewaa, Amina and Kimathi.
