Ghanaian actress, Nana Akua Addo, has lamented the rate at which people criticize her and her activities.
She has been criticized by some movie enthusiasts who say she does not deserved to be referred to as an actress because she is not seen in movies.
According to the critics, Nana Akua Addo features more in red carpet events than in movies, earning her the nick-name ‘Slay Queen’.
But the ‘Wanna Be’ actress says she does not pay heed to the comments people pass about her because she focuses on quality, not on quantity.
Speaking in an interview on Joy FM, Nana Akua said her critics are jealous of her hard work and so want to distract her with their frustration and anger.
Explaining why she has been absent from movies lately, the actress says she just does not want to star in any movie at all.
She stated that she selects which movies to feature in based on the quality of the script and not the many of it.
“If they say they don’t see me in movies nowadays, it’s because I don’t want to be in just any movies.”
“I consider the quality, not the numbers,” Nana Akua Addo added.
Referring to Ama K. Abebrese and Abraham Attah, Nana Akua says the two have starred in only a number of movies yet they are known in Hollywood.
Having starred in movies such as ‘Blood’ and ‘Destiny’s Child’, Nana Akua Addo disclosed that she is one of the few women movie producers the Ghana Movie Industry can boast of.
Thereby rubbing shoulders with Lucky Lawson, Ama K. Abebrese and other female producers.
The ‘Slay Queen’ was the red carpet host at the All Africa Music Award (AFRIMA) held last weekend in Nigeria.
She was spotted in a huge red gown with a bizarre face jewellery.
Nana Akua Addo further said she would choose Nigerian designers over Ghanaian designers anytime.
