H.E. Jerry John Rawlings, Ghana's former president, has commented on the ongoing political turbulence in Zimbabwe and urged Zimbabweans not to hurt President Mugabe's legacy, and dignity.

According to former president Rawlings, of all the the African heads of stated, President Mugabe is the only president to have served with pride as an African.
In a series of tweets on his official Twitter handle, former president Rawlings has expressed that the embattled Zimbabwean president "lived" for the dignity of his fellow Africans in ways no other African Head of state has.

Since Tuesday morning, President Robert Mugabe has been placed under house arrest after the country's military leadership took over power. Reports say that troops have been deployed in the Capital Harare, but that there have been no reports of actual violence.

Further reports have it that there is an ongoing going negotiation between the Military and president Mugabe, but that the embattled Zimbabwean leader is refusing to step down immediately.
