- Residents in the Volta region on Friday staged a demonstration against the NPP government
- They claim the government has failed to bring down the cost of living by reducing utility tariffs and fuel prices
The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has witnessed its first demonstration after some residents of the Volta region took to the streets to register their displeasure with the government.
A sizable number of persons graced the streets to demonstrate against the NPP government, claiming the government has subjected them to hardships since winning power.
According to them, the last 10 months under the Nana Addo-led administration have not brought any improvement in the region.
They pointed out that people of the Volta region are really struggling to survive due to the high fuel prices and utility tariffs.
They added that the NPP government has neglected some projects started by the erstwhile government, naming the eastern corridor road as one of such instances.
The protestors were led by one Mawunyo Agbe, as they marched to the Regional Coordination Council to lay down their grievances.
They also presented a petition requesting that government addresses their concerns in three months or be ready to face them.
