-Minister of Communications, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has been named as a queen mother by the people of Akyem Asuom.
-Mrs Owusu-Ekuful has accepted and promised to bring development to the area.
The Minister for Communications and MP for Ablekuma West, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has been named as the Nkosuohemaa of Akyem Asuom in the Kwaebibirem District of the Eastern Region.
This was disclosed at durbar to mark the 75th Anniversary of Asuomhemaa, Nana Yaa Anamah II, last Saturday.

According to the chiefs of Asuom, Mrs Owusu-Ekuful's virtues, educational and political backgrounds and achievements in life as a woman of substance influenced their decision to bestow her with the honour.
Accepting the honour, the Communications Minister promised to team up with other prominent natives of the area such as Hon. Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah, Hon. Kwasi Amoako-Attah, Minister of Roads & Highways, Hon. Antwi Boasiako, DCE of Kade, Hon. Ohemeng-Tinyase, MP for Kade, Oheneba Charles and others to bring development to the town.
Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, who was at the event to represent President Nana Akufo-Addo, expressed the president's delight to note that the longest-serving queen mother of AKyem Abuakwa is from Asuom, and assured Nana Yaa Anamah that her prayerful wish that a Vocational Training Centre be built and named after her will be supported by Government.
