A man in Germany has found his car 20 years after he reported it stolen. However, it turns out he had forgotten where he parked it.
The unnamed man, now aged 76, reported his car stolen in Frankfurt in 1997.
According to a local paper, Augsberger Allgemein, police finally found the vehicle in the parking bay of an old industrial building that has been marked for demolition.
Since the car was holding up the demolition, constructors informed local police, who then tracked down the man.
When police drove him to the site, the man recalled that he had in fact parked the car there. When he couldn't find it, he assumed someone had taken it.
However, the car was no longer functional. A police spokesperson was quoted saying:
The car can no longer be driven and will be sent to the scrap heap.
