Renowned broadcaster, Kwasi Kyei Darkwa (KKD), has reaffirmed his love for his love for his gay son in a recent letter.
The letter follows his son's 24th birthday weeks after coming out as homosexual. The decision by the young model to reveal his sexuality ignited a heated debate in Ghana as many felt he made the wrong decision.
Being a father to Kwaku Darkwah Kyei-Darkwah, KKD wrote a heartfelt letter expressing how much he loved his son no matter his sexuality.
His letter got criticized by a section of the public who argued that KKD was leading his son on to live "the wrong lifestyle".
But the seasoned broadcaster never listened to the homophobic criticisms against him and his son as he has penned down yet another letter on his son's birthday.
"Stand up for yourself and those you love and those who stand with you when life is rough. When the family walks a path, not yours to choose. Live your life for no commoners’ applause. Courteous, helpful never hateful nor coarse," excerpts of the poetic letter read.
KKD also adviced his son to be proud of sexuality stating that he should "live life for no commoners’ applause".
The model who was featured exclusively in the magazine is said to have admitted that he had a difficult time before coming out about his sexuality.
Darkwah Kyei-Darkwah said he used to be very quiet, obedient and often stay in his room so as he would not be noticed. But he says he has now come of age and doesn’t feel the need to conform to anybody’s standard in terms of sexuality.
