Former president John Dramani Mahama seems to have earned the wrath of Zimbabweans on social media after he shared a tweet calling former president Robert Mugabe a liberation hero and a patriot.

Yesterday's news of former president Robert Gabriel Mugabe's resignation days after Zimbabwe's armed forces took over the reigns of power in a "soft" coup d'etate took many by surprise.

While some were expecting a protracted negotiation or lengthy impeachment processes, it appears as though former president Mugabe saw the writings on the wall and decided to take the "easy" way out.

In light of president Mugabe's resignation - and recent developments in Zimbabwe - former president John Mahama sent a tweet on his official Twitter profile calling president Mugabe a liberation hero and a patriot. Ghana's former head of state said that the annals of time will remember the Zimbabwean head of state kindly.

But President Mahama's tweet may not have gone down too well with Zimbabweans, who've not taken kindly to president Mahama's comment.
