-An elder of the NPP has said he sold his houses to support the party's 2016 campaign.
-The sacrifice, he disclosed, became necessary because the financial situation of the party became dire
A member of the council of elders of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has revealed what could be described as a huge sacrifice a supporter could ever make for his party in the run up to the 2016 election.
Dr Kwame Amoako Tuffour, who served as the National Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) under the Kufuor administration, sold his houses and used the proceeds to support President Nana Akufo-Addo's campaign.
According to him, the financial situation of the party had become dire and some of the party's leading members had to act to save the situation so he decided to sell the houses to support the campaign.
Speaking in an interview with on Kumasi-based Abusua FM, he explained that he took the risky decision because he was motivated by his desire to see the NPP come to power and Nana Addo become president.
“I had to sacrifice for the party”, he stressed.
Currently a member of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) Board, Dr Amoako-Tuffour promised to help the youths of the country to create jobs for themselves even if it means making similar sacrifices like he made for the NPP.
"...If I have a house which needs to be sold to help the youths just like I did by selling some of my houses to support my party in the just ended general elections, why not", he retorted.
