The former director of the National Health Insurance Authority and a presidential hopeful of the National Democratic Congress, Sylvester Mensah, has said he will go further than Former President Mahama ever did when he was in power.

According to him, if he is given the opportunity to serve, he would push Ghana forward, even more than than previous administration did.

In a Citifmonline.com report, Mr. Mensah indicated that he is currently working with his advisors regarding his interest to contest in the NDC primaries.

Mr. Mensah,who is confident that he would be able to do better than Mahama's government, stated: “Of course, I believe strongly about that. I have competence and capacity that can move this country faster than any of the current hopefuls. I have ability and what it takes to move this country faster than any other.

The previous [President] could have done a very good job, but at the end of the day, you want to find out whether there is someone who could have done better. And doing better doesn’t necessarily define the other person’s performance as bad.

The race for the NDC primaries to determine who leads the party in the year 2020, seems to be getting heated, as a number of NDC's top members have expressed their interest in contesting.

Among them are the Member of parliament for Nadowli-Kaleo, Alban Bagbin, a former minister in the previous Mahama administration, Ekwow Spio-Garbrah and Prof. Joshua Alabi.

Former President Mahama has also given some indication that he might consider a comeback to contest for the leadership of the party, ahead of the 2020 presidential race.
