-A police officer, Ebenezer Ankamah has been arrested for allegedly stealing two phones from staff of a financial institution in Bolgatanga
-Anakamah went to the institution to secure a loan but ended stealing the phones of the staff processing his request
-He was, however, betrayed by the CCTV camera in the office which captured him in the act
A police officer has been arrested at has been nabbed in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region for stealing two mobile phones from two members of staff of Bayport Financial Service.
Lance Corporal Ebenezer Ohene Ankamah who had gone to the financial institution to procure a loan allegedly stole a Samsung Galaxy J7 and Tecno L8 plus.
The phones belonged to Albert Asina and Richard Saviou, the officers who were processing his loan request.
He sneaked out after the act but was given away by the CCTV camera in the office which captured him stealing
After reviewing their CCTV footage and spotting the suspect, the Bolgatanga manager of Bayport, Robert Osei Darko lodged an official complaint with the police.
Ankamah, who was originally stationed at Navorongo and had been transferred to Eastern Regional Rapid Unit in Koforidua had fled and was only arrested at his new station.
After his arrest, he confessed to the crime and led police to Accra lorry station at Koforidua where he allegedly sold the phones but the buyer was no where to be found.
He was later brought to Bolgatanga station and is being detained for investigations.
