Ghana’s representative at this year’s Miss Universe beauty Pageant, Ruth Quashie came so close to clinching the coveted Miss Universe crown but missed out to her fellow African.
Ruth Quashie who was the winner of the Miss Ghana Universe Pageant which was held in country went on to compete with other 92 young ladies from around the world.
The young graduate from the University of Ghana represented Ghana after a long stint of a 13-year absence from the competition.
She went on to defy the odds and went on ahead to be part of the last 16 ladies standing and still in the running towards becoming Miss Universe 2017.
The 23-year old beauty queen from Ghana’s edition of the pageant was one of two Africans who qualified to for the last round of the competition. The other African competitor was South Africa’s Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, who went on to become the eventual winner of this year’s pageant.
Ruth Quashie, who studied Business Administration at Ghana’s premier university and hails from the Central Region of Ghana went head to head with and ‘beat’ some 120 ladies from across the country and went on to represent Ghana.
Many people have sent words of encouragement and congratulatory messages to the model and beauty pageant and also to wish her well in her future endeavors.
Colombia’s Laura Gonzalez and Jamaica’s Davina Bennet came second and third respectively on the night.
South Africa’s Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters becomes the second beauty pageant from the country to be crowned Miss Universe after Margaret Gardiner was crowned eventual winner of the competition in 1978.
