In a report by ghanacelebrities.com, the famous boxer recounted the story of how he left the United Kingdom (UK) for Ghana.

Ayitey Powers, who started as a fisherman, and then a Disc Jockey (DJ) before venturing into boxing, claimed that his life was a mess till the Nigerian evangelist, T.B Joshua came to his aid.

He said that he once lived and worked in the UK. Strangely, he suddenly found himself in Ghana, and in abject poverty.

Narrating the story to Andrew Tandoh on the Tonight Show, Powers said he was working in the UK as he had all the necessary documents.

One day, upon waking up in the morning, a spirit drove him to Ghana.

He added that at the time of the incident, he had about 7000 pounds in his account.

He however had to leave it behind, and left the country with 70 pounds on him.

Processes at the Heathrow airport cost him 50 pounds, leaving 20 pounds, which he came to Accra with.

Powers went on to say that he couldn’t event believe he had left UK till he tasted a Ghanaian meal.

“After 3 days I was looking for money to buy air-ticket to return but I didn’t get it. I became so broke that I beg people for money before I eat”, he said.

The popular pugilist further stated that he lived in abject poverty for five years as no one desired to come to his aid.

Some pastors, he claimed, were even trying to extort money from him.

“Do you know the number of churches I go in Ghana? … If they are wake up they claim i say TB Joshua, TB Joshua … Ghana here only a few pastors are perfect, but majority, 80% are fake“, he said.

Ayitey Powers revealed that in two dreams, he was instructed to visit the Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) in Nigeria.

Later, he managed to secure GHc200, and it served as his transportation to Nigeria.

On his way, he met two men who fed and clothed him; they also gave him a place to sleep, as well as money to be used as transportation back to Ghana.

Till today, he has never seen or heard from them again.

The boxer said that he was soon called for a fight in Australia, and the benefits derived from that fight resuscitated his livelihood and career.
