Self-proclaiming King of dancehall in Ghana, Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah has also added his voice to a new trend of slavery that has been exposed in Libya.
The “Taking Over” hit maker took to his Instagram account and shared a picture of some young men believed to be a part of the atrocities currently happening in Libya and captioned it, “The Black Skin is never a symbol of shame but rather a Glorious symbol of strength....Africans sold by Africans ....Libya stop Disgracing US”.
The dancehall artiste who has made headlines over a number of issues poured his heart out over the mistreatment of others who were also Africans just like those in Libya.
He admonished the North African country to desist from disgracing the entire continent by bringing back the atrocious slave trade which condemned Africans to be used as ‘Beasts of Burden’ in other countries.
The news came to light when a report by CNN went viral on social media on how migrants from other countries were being sold into slavery by some Libyan officials.
Most of these migrants were caught trying to cross the dessert into Europe to seek greener pastures. They are mostly from Ghana, Nigeria and Cameroon.
Shatta Wale adds his voice to a number of celebrities including Afia Schwarzenegger, known in real life as Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa and American musicians Chris Brown and Cardi B.
Shatta Wale is noted for his outspoken nature and was recently embroiled in a controversy with some Nigerians over comments he made about Wizkid.
The ensuing controversy has led to a number of developments with the major one being a purported video of the “Ayoo” hit maker firing warning shots into the air as he recorded himself on tape.
He recently took a swipe at Nigeria’s Timaya with a song which has angered many people. Timaya has also since responded to Shatta Wale with a live video.
