-The whistle-blowing robber was peeved after being given just GHC100 of the robbed amount
An accomplice in a robbery who felt cheated out of the booty has blown the whistle on his colleagues.
Ekow Annan, a drinking bar operator at Adabraka in Accra, in collaboration with two others, robbed a Chinese national of his bag containing GH¢1,000 cedis and an Identity Card.
But after getting only GHC100 out of the total amount, he felt cheated and caused the arrest of his accomplices, Mohammed Iddris, a trader; and Jacob Nii Ayittey Thompson, an Electric Welder.
The three charged with conspiracy and robbery charges have been put before an Accra Circuit Court.
Facts of the case
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mawuenyo Nanegbe, the Chinese man, Shang Ya Wei, resides in the 37 Military Hospital area in Accra
On November 18, this year, at about 10:30pm he and his brother, Zhu Jun Sha, chattered a taxi to take them to a place they could have fun and the driver took them to Cumberland Hotel at Adabraka.
After sending them there, the taxi driver hinted to Iddris, a resident of Kwame Nkrumah Circle, that he brought some Chinese and that he suspects them of carrying monies in their bags.
The driver then convinced Iddris to get some other men to snatch the bags which he heeded. He brought Thompson on board who also introduced Annan.
After their fun time, the taxi driver while taking the Chinese home pretended that his engine had developed a fault in the middle of the journey allowing Iddris and Thompson who were waiting at the spot to pounce on them.
Thompson punched the face of the complainant and took his bag but two days later, they were arrested after a tip off from Annan who has since refunded the GHC100 received.
The three who admitted committing the offence during interrogation pleaded not guilty in court and were remanded by Mr Aboagye Tandoh to reappear on December 11.
